Cup final will mean a trip to Invergordon for Halkirk United
The first Jock Mackay Cup final since the competition was reinstated will effectively be an away game for Halkirk United.
The Anglers are up against North Caledonian League champions Invergordon and the North Caley FA has confirmed that the match will take place at Invergordon’s Recreation Grounds on Saturday, November 8, with a 1pm kick-off.
It is the first knockout tournament of the North Caley campaign and is being played this season for the first time since 2018/19. The trophy is named after a long-serving North Caley office-bearer.
Halkirk United progressed to the final by beating Golspie Sutherland 5-1 at Morrison Park. Invergordon were 4-1 winners against St Duthus in the other semi.
Last weekend’s stormy weather meant both Caithness clubs were left idle. Thurso’s scheduled North Caledonian League match at home to Orkney fell victim to ferry cancellations, while Halkirk United’s Football Times Cup quarter-final at home to Fort William was also postponed.
The Vikings travel to King George V Park on Saturday for a Football Times Cup first-round tie against Golspie. The Anglers are off to Orkney on league duty.
