There was an excellent turnout of 60 players from Thurso, Reay, Wick, Golspie and Inverness for the Stuart Campbell Open played at Thurso Golf Club in decent if breezy weather.

The runaway winner was Harvey Cowe (handicap 16) with a tremendous nett 64, six shots ahead of four players. Callum Mauchlen, Graeme Henderson, Walter Rutherford and Sandy Chisholm all shared 70 nett.

Seven pars on the front nine saw Cowe out in three over par. After a disappointing seven at the 10th he bounced back with a birdie on the long par-three 12th. A flurry of fives on the home run saw a back nine of 42, giving a total gross of 80 (16) 64.
