Top Joe's were on song with a 7-2 victory over Comm.

Comm were no match for Top Joe’s on the night as only Chris Sutherland managed to win a singles game for the hosts. Top Joe’s went on to win two of the three doubles for a resounding 7-2 victory.

Holborn tried to make it two wins in less than a week when they played Popeye’s. Last Thursday, Holborn managed to exact revenge on the Comm who had defeated them two days previously. Although the singles were close, Holborn just edged them by a score of 4-2 and then secured the first doubles for the win. Comm won the remaining doubles to leave the final score 5-4 to the Holborn.

However, in Scrabster it wasn’t to be for the Holborn as Popeye’s rediscovered their form by thrashing them 8-1. This included Popeye’s sweeping the singles with Sarah Coghill rounding the singles off with a cheeky trick shot to finish.

Having won their last two matches, Ashes Bar were looking to make it three wins in a row and consolidate their mid-table position when they travelled to face Skinandi’s. The first two singles games were shared, then Graham Young edged Ashes Bar ahead only for James Moodie to square the match for Skinandi’s.

Graham Lowe put Ashes Bar back in front for a third time but once more Andrew Cuthbert levelled the match heading into the doubles. Skinandi’s went ahead for the first time courtesy of Rian MacGregor and Ali Glen but it was short-lived as Ashes Bar got back on level terms at 4-4.

A tense final doubles was clinched by Ashes Bar to give them their third win in a row and move them up to fourth.

Week 15 results: Comm 2, Top Joe’s 7; Popeye’s 8, Holborn 1; Skinandi’s 4, Ashes Bar 5.

Week 16 action sees title favourites Halkirk “1” at home to Comm, needing to win their final three games to guarantee the title. Elsewhere, Holborn host Skinandi’s; Top Joe’s entertain Popeye’s, and Ashes Bar look for revenge in the derby against Weigh Inn.
