Lewis Swan will be sidelined for Castletown’s next few games after being injured in a clash of heads during a county league match on Friday night.

The Division One encounter against High Ormlie Hotspur in Thurso was abandoned as the 17-year-old was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Castletown manager Tom McKenna said: “After a 40-minute wait for an ambulance, Lewis was taken to hospital in Wick where he had a CT scan and was given the all clear. The game was abandoned with seven minutes to play.

“As a club we will follow the SFA protocol for concussion, therefore Lewis will be unable to play for the next few games.”

High Ormlie were leading by a goal to nil at the time.

In a social media post, Castletown said: “Unfortunately the game was abandoned due a nasty clash of heads. Our player Lewis Swan was transferred to hospital where he was checked over and allowed to go home [in the] early hours of the morning.

“Thanks to everyone who assisted in taking care of Lewis until the ambulance arrived. Everyone at the club is wishing Lewis a speedy and full recovery.”

High Ormlie Hotspur said on social media: “Everyone at HOH would like to wish Lewis Swan a swift and full recovery. We would also like to thank everyone for their help at the time.”
