Call-off means two-and-a-half-week break from competitive action for Wick Academy
The postponement of Wick Academy’s home match against Banks O’ Dee means the Scorries will go at least two-and-a-half weeks without any competitive action.
Gary Manson’s men were due to return to Highland League duty on Saturday following their Scottish Cup shootout loss to Benburb on October 25.
However, the Banks O’ Dee game was called off after prolonged heavy rain made Harmsworth Park unplayable.
This weekend’s fixture list consists of eight first-round ties in the Highland League Cup, but the Scorries were one of two clubs eliminated at the preliminary stage when they were beaten 6-0 at Forres in September.
The next competitive outing for Academy is at home to Clachnacuddin in the league on Wednesday, November 12. That will be followed by a trip to Buckie.
Clach moved up to fifth in the table on Saturday with a revenge hammering of Forres Mechanics.
The Inverness side, beaten 3-2 by Forres in last month’s North of Scotland Cup final, thumped the Can-Cans 6-0 at Grant Street Park. Allan Macphee scored a hat-trick, James Anderson got two and Fergus Adams added the sixth.
Formartine United grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser to secure a 3-3 draw with Brora Rangers in the top-of-the-table clash at North Lodge Park.
Huntly were 5-2 winners at Rothes, with returning striker Andy Hunter among the scorers for the Black-and-Golds.
Buckie Thistle won 3-2 at Inverurie, while Keith had a 2-0 victory at Lossiemouth. Turriff United and Strathspey Thistle drew 1-1.
Nairn County’s encounter with Brechin City at Station Park was called off at half-time due to a medical emergency involving a spectator. Nairn were 2-1 ahead at the time.
