Caithness Ladies kick off cup campaign by hitting double figures

Caithness Ladies hit double figures in their opening SWF Highlands and Islands League Cup tie against Nairn St Ninian.

Carly Erridge led the way with a hat-trick in the 11-2 demolition at Back Park in Castletown on Sunday. Anna Foubister netted twice, while also on the scoresheet for Caithness were Anna Swanson, Kara Sutherland, Lauren Ross, Bryony Robinson, Emily Webster and Hannah Hutson.

Kerrie Martin was named as player of the match.

Caithness Ladies have a break this weekend before returning to action with a Highlands and Islands League fixture on Sunday, April 27 – again versus Nairn St Ninian but this time away.

Caithness player Sophie Kinghorn made it clear last week that silverware is the target for the team this season.

Their next cup tie is against Sutherland in May.

Shetland began their Highlands and Islands League Cup campaign with a 5-0 victory over Orkney in Kirkwall. Lisa Goudie got a double for the Shetlanders before Freya Leslie added a hat-trick.

Results – SWF Highlands and Islands League Cup: Caithness 11, Nairn St Ninian 2; Orkney 0, Shetland 5.

Fixtures – Sunday, April 27 – SWF Highlands and Islands League: Orkney v Clachnacuddin; Nairn St Ninian v Caithness; Sutherland v Buckie.
