Ben makes top three in time trial

WEEK 10 in the Wick Wheelers’ 10-mile time trials saw 15 take part.

The night saw the welcomed return of Norman Bremner who set a time of 35.59. John Sinclair, of Caithness Cycling Club, finished with a time of 30.56 and Chris Oakley finished in 30.05.

Paul Bremner came in on 30.00, followed by Joe Wright on 28.57 with Les Oliphant coming in 10th on 28.13 and Helen Richard ninth on 28.02.

Willie Sinclair finally beat his personal best time after years of trying with a time of 27.24. He was followed in by Alun Arnold in seventh place with a time of 26.34, only five seconds behind his son Ben, who came in on 26.29.

Brian Grant continued his seasonal form to finish fifth on 26.22. Charlie Mackay finished fourth on 26.03 while Stuart Anderson had a good ride to beat his personal best time of 25.37.

Graeme Clyne finished second in 25.19 as CCC rider David Morrill recorded the fastest time of the night of 24.24.

Week 10 also saw the club’s second 25-mile time trial in which eight riders competed.

Taking his second 25-mile win was Charlie Mackay who recorded 1.06.39 and came in just ahead of Brian Grant (1.08.07).

Youngster Ben Arnold had a good debut at this distance and finished in a time of 1.09.09 to take third.
