WICK Academy's under-15s returned to action in the Highland Youth Development League with a 3-1 win against Do Soccer from Tain.

Sunday's match at the Upper Bignold Park was the first competitive outing for the team in two months, with goals from Scott Levack, Scott Durrand and Lucas Reid securing the victory.

Wick took the lead just before the end of the first third. Ethan Kevill beat a couple of defenders and passed to Levack who put in Andrew Brims, and he gave the goalkeeper no chance.

The second third saw the home side creating a lot more chances. Aidan Miller was unlucky not to score from a free kick which shaved the crossbar.

Kieran Macgregor's corner found Durrand at the back post and he finished it well to double Wick's advantage.

Do Soccer tried to apply some pressure but could not break down Lewis Gill, Elliot Cormack, Sean Pearson and Matthew Aitkenhead.

Tain got a goal back the final third with a brilliant strike from outside the box which gave Leo Shearer no chance.

Wick added their third after a fine through ball from Miller to set up Lucas Reid, who coolly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper.

Coach John Suttar said: "It was the team's first game since early November, and it showed that we were lacking game time as we looked very rusty. Tain put us under lot of pressure with number of corners which we dealt with quite well.

"It was good to get a game again and great to see a good turnout of parents."

The next match is on Sunday against Clach.
