WEEK two in the Wick & District Pool League saw Ryan Cook’s Blackstairs “2” side record an impressive 6-5 victory over its rivals Blackstairs “1”.

Alan Forbes and Cook put them 2-1 ahead but were pulled back to 2-2 thanks to Perry Campbell. John Martin and Keith Budge then outsmarted their opponents to put Blackstairs “2” 4-2 ahead.

Blackstairs “1” once again kept within a frame as Tam Sutherland and Hamish New won their doubles. Blackstairs “2” then closed out the match by winning the next two doubles, gaining a well-deserved two points.

The Seaforth Club hosted Crown “1” in what turned out to be a very good match. Craig Durrand was close to completing a fantastic eight-ball clearance but fell short when he missed the all-important black.

Stevie Cunningham then produced a fine clearance to put Crown “1” 2-1 ahead.

Grant Budge and Greg Shearer put in good performances as the Crown lads went 4-2 up after the singles.

Crown “1” then clinched the match, taking the next two frames with five-ball clearances from Colin Banks and Cunningham.

The much-anticipated Lybster derby went the way of Bayview “1” who defeated Commercial 7-4 in a close match.

Camps “2” remain top of the league after a solid 8-3 win over Queen’s, and Camps “1” upset FSC “1” with a 6-5 win in a tense match.
