Are you ready for the challenge of a lifetime?

The Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North Highland Summit to Success Challenge, sponsored by Scrabster Harbour Trust, is offering 16 young people in Caithness and Sutherland the opportunity to secure a spot on an exclusive, confidence-building weekend in Cairngorms National Park.

The Summit to Success Challenge will dare participants to climb higher, race faster and push further. The weekend of outdoor activities is designed to build teamwork and collaboration, enhance leadership skills, develop problem-solving abilities, improve communication and boost confidence and self-esteem.

The challenge is open to everyone aged 16-24 in the north Highlands, with 16 fully funded places available.

To participate DYW North Highland encourages young people across the region to sharpen their job application and employability skills by participating in a mock job interview process.

Participants will be asked to research careers in the outdoors, apply for a role, and attend an interview, putting their best foot forward as if they were applying for a real-life position.

The best applicants will be chosen to take part in the Summit to Success Basecamp, where they will take part in a full weekend of activities.

Caithness Chamber of Commerce chief executive and DYW North Highland lead Trudy Morris said: "This opportunity is incredibly exciting for our young participants, promising to enhance their confidence and impart valuable transferable skills.

“These core skills will be immensely beneficial as they embark on their future career paths. Access to high-quality growth opportunities and real-world experiences is crucial for the sustained development and future success of our younger generations."

The weekend aims to improve the kinds of skills vital for success in the workplace.

Sandy Mackie, trust manager of Scrabster Harbour Trust said: “Scrabster Harbour Trust is delighted to support the Summit to Success Challenge.

“It is an old cliché that young people are our future. We believe that it is important to support them to gain the skills needed for the workplace.

“This initiative, through all its stages, will better equip the participants for the future”.

Applications open on Monday (August 19) and close on Friday, September 6 at noon. Find out more on the DYW North Highland website: www.dywnh.scot
