Wick High School today asked pupils to make face coverings a "standard part of the equipment needed to attend school each day" after an increase in those failing to obey the rules.

In a bulletin called "Face mask Request" on its website this morning, the school said that in recent weeks it had seen "an increase" in the number of pupils arriving to school without a face covering.

The post continues: "This results in a great deal of wasted time for both staff and pupils not to mention the cost incurred to the school to supply disposable masks to those who need them.

"Please can you make sure that a face covering is a standard part of the equipment needed to attend school each day. We appreciate your support in this."
