Wick Players to host training event on safeguarding and child protection
Wick Players will host a training event on safeguarding and child protection at the start of next month.
It will take the form of an evening session delivered by Fiona Mackintosh, of Highland Child Protection Committee, for volunteers and community groups that have regular contact with children (under-18s) and/or families.
The free event takes place at Moray Street Drama Centre in Wick on Thursday, April 3, from 6-8pm. Booking is required due to limited spaces.
Those wishing to book a place should email CP.Training@highland.gov.uk
The course looks at different types of abuse and neglect, as well as giving information about managing disclosures and handling sensitive situations.
Wick Players’ company secretary Jayden Alexander explained: “This session is designed to update the volunteers of our club on the rules, regulations and principles surrounding child protection, ensuring that we are doing our best to promote and practise good safeguarding.
“Fiona will be travelling from the west coast specifically to provide this important training. It would be great to see a good turnout at this event, which will provide excellent information and training to local organisations like ourselves.”
