A 39-year-old Wick man who punched a youth twice on the head was ordered to pay his victim £350 in compensation.

George Harper, of Bremner's Walk, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Friday and admitted the assault to injury which occurred in Thornbush Road, Inverness, on July 9, 2020.

He was also sentenced to carry out 80 hours of unpaid community work.

Defence solicitor George Mathers said: "He was in Inverness visiting friends when he was confronted with three drunken youths."

Mr Mathers said one of the youths punched a boy who was with Harper and he retaliated after being punched as well.
