A Wick-born singer is fulfilling a life-long “dream” of playing at the “legendary” Glastonbury music festival this weekend.

Born in Wick and raised on the Black Isle, Tamzene Allison-Power (27) is preparing to play at one of the world’s most renowned music events — Glastonbury Festival, taking place between June 26-30.

“I’ve always dreamed of playing a show at Glastonbury.” said Tamzene. “It’s a small set, so I feel like it’s the perfect introduction this legendary festival and such a incredible stage to be performing on — so many legends have graced that stage. I’m really excited to just be a part of it.

“I was a part of the Inverness High Street busking scene for many years, and the support is always really beautiful in the Highlands for sure.”

Tamzene will also be returning to play in the Highlands on September 26, at Tooth and Claw in Inverness.

The singer-songwriter continued: “My next project comes out on August 16, and my next single Best of Me is out on Friday July 5. The song is five years old, it’s been one that’s lived with me for a long time, so I’m looking forward to letting it go — and maybe playing it at Glastonbury!

“I’m most excited to just take in the atmosphere and be inspired by all the incredible talent and displays of art, as well as meeting fellow artists. I didn’t want to go to Glastonbury before I had played there, so it really is a dream introduction to the festival.”

Tamzene will be playing her Glastonbury set on Saturday June 29 between 3-4pm, as a part of the Radical Round-up on the Left Field.
