Wick court issues warrant for Fife pensioner accused of stalking woman in Thurso

A sheriff has issued a warrant for an elderly man accused of stalking a woman in Thurso.

John Ritchie's arrest was ordered after he failed to appear at Wick Sheriff Court on Monday.

Fiscal Depute Grant McLennan said that he had received a letter from the 76-year-old's doctor stating that the accused had medical issues and was unable to travel.

The charge alleges that Ritchie of Derran Drive, Bowhill, Cardenen in Fife called at a woman’s place of work, in Thurso, repeatedly sent her letters despite being asked not to do so, and threatened to kill her and others, in one of the phone calls he made to her.

The offences are said to have taken place between April 4 and 12.

Ritchie is also accused of forcing open at garden shed at the woman’s with intent to steal and damaging a caravan at Rhiconich, Sutherland, between April 4 and September 13.
