Volunteers needed to plant trees at Wick riverside

Volunteers are sought for a special tree-planting event will take place at Wick riverside on Sunday, February 2.

Kirsty Rosie, the east Caithness countryside ranger, has put a call out for volunteers to help at the February 2 event between 10.30am to 1pm.

She says: “Please come along and join others from the Caithness Environment Volunteers to help enrich the habitat around Wick riverside for wildlife.

“They are a very welcoming bunch and it is a great way to get fit and socialise outdoors whilst doing something worthwhile. We will be planting hawthorn trees as part of a ‘nature restoration project’, and some other conservation tasks.

“All tools, gloves and equipment will be provided but bring your own if you prefer.”

Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided at the end.

Meet at the Riverside carpark, rose garden end, and stay for as you as you like. It is a drop in event so no need to book.
