Visitors asked to share memories of ‘Wild North’
AN INTERACTIVE campaign inviting people to share their memories of visiting Caithness and Sutherland has been given a five figure boost from VisitScotland.
North Highland Initiative (NHI) has received a £22,000 grant from the tourism organisation’s Growth Fund to help promote, My Wild North, which showcases authentic natural experiences activities and events asking visitors to share their experiences through pictures, videos, songs, stories and poetry.
The group has already attracted a great deal of interest in its new Wild North brand, with television presenter Phillip Schofield among those tweeting the group about his holidays in the north Highlands.
NHI will also use the VisitScotland money to match-fund the marketing of its Wild North brand through online advertising, social media and PR.
NHI chairman David Whiteford said the contribution from VisitScotland’s has helped to make this campaign possible.
He said: “My Wild North is a great campaign that we hope will capture the imagination of North Highland residents and visitors as well as encouraging more people to take part in the natural experiences, activities and events on offer throughout the region from now until December.”
