The Caithness and Sutherland Vintage and Classic Vehicle Club (CSVCVC) said it is delighted to once again hold its annual rally at John O'Groats on June 12 after a two-year absence due to Covid restrictions.
Club members have been working hard to prepare, organise, and plan for a safe event and are looking forward to seeing the public attending from noon onwards.
CSVCVC committee member Jasper Bremner said: "We hope to have all the usual classes of vehicles from the early Veteran, Pre- and Post-war vehicles, and Classic Vehicles, to modern up and coming classics and modified cars."
There will be an Agricultural class, Commercial Vehicles classes, Stationary Engine classes and other Vehicles and Machinery classes. With a new class of show and shine, where any vehicle can be entered.
"In all we hope to have over 150 vehicles on display," added Jasper.
"Blue Bell, our Standard 10 car, will be at our stand – come and hear about our famous little car that saved many other vehicles from being scrapped."
The Club’s new event trailer will be in use – the first event for the unit which was purchased two years ago, and from which the rally will be managed on the day. "Commentary will be provided by our friend AI Willie who will keep us informed on the day's event, class entries' judging and of course the class winners."
Club chairman Kevin Sutherland said: "There are more than cars, motorcycles and tractors to see at the event. We have trade stands, various food and refreshment trailers, the tea tent, dancing displays, the Wick Pipe Band and other attractions including the Blood bikes team, a local fire engine and a display for classic ford cars by the Northern Ford Club."
Donations will be collected at the gate and parking is free. The Club hopes the weather will be good on the day.
The CSVCVC has more that 70 members, with more members joining weekly. In the summer months, the members participate in vehicle runs or meet up for chat over a coffee at different locations over the two counties, and the annual BBQ is a very popular day out.
If you would like to join the club, there will be membership forms at the stand with annual membership costing £15 or family membership £20. There is a Facebook page for the club as well that people can find out more information from at: www.facebook.com/CSVCVC
