From today, pupils and staff in secondary schools will no longer be required to wear face coverings in classrooms, announced Wick High School in a bulletin this morning.

However, schools and the Highland Council say they will fully support any individual who wishes to continue to do so.

Face coverings will still be required at indoor communal areas including corridors and toilets, and by adults where they cannot maintain a physical distance with other adults, children and young people.

Face coverings will also be required on dedicated school transport for individuals aged 12 and over.
