A99 north of Latheron in Caithness reopens after five hours following a two-vehicle crash

A Caithness trunk road has reopened after being closed for around five hours following a road crash.

Police Scotland confirmed that the A99 is now open after a collision north of Latheron took place just before 3pm.

The scene of the two-vehicle crash was attended by air ambulance and fire service and police, with one person taken to hospital as a precaution.

The closure caused disruption to traffic for several hours — also affecting school bus journeys.
