A Scotrail service between Inverness and Wick has been cancelled due to staff illness.

The train was due to leave the Highland capital at 2pm today (April 8) and was due in to Wick at 6.22pm.

A replacement bus service will be put in place instead.

The announcement on the ScotRail website said: “14:00 Inverness to Wick due 18:22 will be cancelled.

“This is due to a member of on-train staff being taken ill.

“We have managed to source a replacement coach operated by D&E coaches for this cancelled train.

“Due to the use of road transport your journey time will be extended and we apologise for the disruption to you journey on this route, if you are delayed over 30 minutes you can make a claim by visiting ScotRail.co.uk/delay-repay.”
