Thurso water works complete months early, says utility
Scottish Water says it has completed a significant upgrade to the network in Thurso ahead of schedule.
The utility firm has been working on the project to upgrade 11.7 kilometres of water mains pipes across the Viewfield, Janetstown and Newlands of Geise areas.
The project was initially expected to be completed by this summer but Scottish Water says the work has now been done.
A spokesperson said: “The essential upgrade was undertaken to ensure customers continue to enjoy fresh, clear drinking water for years to come, while reducing the risk of pipe bursts and unplanned disruptions.

“The project was managed by Scottish Water’s alliance partner, Caledonia Water Alliance, and the pipework was installed by the contractor GMR Henderson.”
They also thanked residents and road users for their patience and understanding during periods of disruption.
Caledonia Water project manager Joanna Crystal said: “This has been a challenging project. However, it is a testament to our team’s hard work and commitment to delivering quality service for our customers. Completing ahead of schedule means our communities can enjoy the benefits of this investment sooner.”
