Thurso driver was nearly five times drink-drive limit

A driver who was found to be almost five times over the drink-driving limit was banned for a year at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Alexander Macdonald (66) was also fined £325. He provided a positive breath test to police acting on a tip-off. A follow-up test revealed a reading of 111mcg – the legal limit is 22mcg.

Macdonald, of Heathfield Road, Thurso, pleaded guilty to driving withu excess alcohol in Castlegreen Road, and in a car park in Howburn Road, both Thurso, on November 18 last year.
