A Sheffield man has been accused of being concerned in the supply of drugs in the far north of Scotland.

Fifty-five-year-old James Holman pleaded not guilty at Wick Sheriff Court on Tuesday and will stand trial on December 1.

The indictment alleges that the offence, involving the Class B drug, cannabis, took place at the Gills Bay ferry terminal on December 15, last year.

Holman, of Monksbridge Road, Sheffield, was charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

His appearance follows an intense police operation at the terminal which focused on a transporter van.

The court was told that some of the evidence has been agreed between the prosecution and defence in advance of the trial.
