Old friends met up and new ones were made at the annual senior citizens' treat in Wick.

The event in the Assembly Rooms on January 15 was hailed as a great success with numbers up on last year, partly due to the weather and also because the organising committee had reverted to serving a meal rather than tea and cakes.

Compere for the evening was Willie Mackay, who extended a warm welcome and introduced the entertainment. Singers Clare Center, Craig Mathieson and Lisa Douglas each took the stage, Highland dancers Ellie Watt and Holly Miller impressed with their routine and members of Wick RBLS Pipe Band played a few tunes, finishing with the rousing Highland Cathedral, which delighted everyone.

The entertainment continued with Addie Harper and Friends, who played a selection of Scottish favourites which had many of the guests taking to the floor.

Chairwoman Donna Plowman was pleased with how the evening went and thanked local businesses for their generosity and the helpers on the night – all of whom contribute to the continued success of the treat.

Every guest left with a substantial substantial gift and goody bag.
