ScotRail trains in the Highlands disrupted by staff illness for second day running after Far North Line services between Caithness and Inverness hit by cancellations again
Staff illness has sparked the cancellation of trains on the Far North Line for the second day in a row.
The 12.34pm Wick to Inverness service, and the 6.31pm Inverness to Wick - which uses the same train - have both been cancelled on Saturday.
The same journeys were also cancelled on Friday - with both days' disruption being chalked to up to the "train conductor being taken ill" by rail bosses.
ScotRail has been able to source bus replacements for the two cancelled train on Saturday.
The 12.34pm Wick to Inverness will be covered by one full size coach, provided by D&E.
And the 6.31pm Inverness to Wick train will be replaced by a full size Aray Travel coach and a 29-seater vehicle provided by MacNeil.
"We have managed to source one full size replacement coach for this cancelled train, provided by D&E.
"Due to the use of road transport your journey time will be extended and we apologise for the disruption to your journey on this route," said a ScotRail spokesperson. "if you are delayed over 30 minutes you can make a claim by visiting ScotRail.co.uk/delay-repay."
The two cancelled Far North trains were the only cancellations anywhere on Scotland's rail network at the time of writing shortly after 7am.
