A Helmsdale mobile seafood catering van's first visit to Caithness proved extremely popular with queues of customers quickly forming.
C Food & Eat took a trip over the Ord last Saturday (October 17), due to increasing demand for their speciality shellfish dishes from local residents.
The Cowie family, who run the new business, were rather overwhelmed to find queues beginning to line up around half an hour prior to opening.
Billy Cowie, of C Food & Eat, said: “The support of the residents, from all over Caithness was quite unbelievable. Having queued for over an hour to get served, with some quite heavy showers, they were still all smiles."
The team on the day consisted of Billy and Allison Cowie, their daughter Dawn and their son's girlfriend Isla, who were all in disbelief of the constant queue for four hours.
“We anticipated the demand would be quite high, with our social media posts getting so much engagement, but could never of dreamed to have the response we did," Billy said. "The harbour staff were excellent too, allowing us to visit for the day.”
Following the successful visit, the family made a return journey to the town to present a cheque to the Wick lifeboat crew as a thank-you for the use of the harbour and to give something back to the local community for the fantastic support shown.
Although having their grand opening delayed by the lockdown measures in March, the mobile seafood catering business was established at Helmsdale harbour as restrictions eased.
