A further 11 new positive tests for coronavirus have been detected across NHS Highland; the rise came as Scotland's cumulative number of Covid-19 infections passed 90,000

ELEVEN further positive Covid-19 tests have been recorded across the NHS Highland region.

The area's overall number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic rose from 1346 to 1357 when the latest update was published.

The increase came as Scotland's overall number of cases passed the 90,000 mark. A further 771 people tested positive for Covid-19 since yesterday – taking the country's cumulative number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 90,081.

The latest update also revealed that there were 1197 people receiving treatment for coronavirus in Scottish hospitals last night – down 11 from the previous day.

And the number of those in intensive care stood at 84, a total unchanged since the previous update.

Sadly a further 41 people who previously tested positive have since died.

Meanwhile, no new positive tests were recorded across NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney overnight.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there 49 new infections in NHS Grampian, which has now recorded 4355 cases.

And NHS Tayside added a further 53 positive tests for a cumulative total of 5560.
