MELVICH’S Heather Simpson recently received a Highland Council Quality Award, having been nominated by the local community council.

Heather is a member of staff at Melvich Primary and undertakes cleaning, driving and janitorial duties. She is the longest serving staff member at the school having worked there for the past 28 years.

Heather was the school cook for 14 years prior to assuming her current duties. She also works one morning a week at Reay Primary and runs the youth club in Melvich for P7-S6 pupils.

Heather is pictured receiving a bouquet of flowers from Melvich Primary pupils – Cairn Jardine-Munro P3, Heather Grant P6, Rebecca Docherty P2 and Finlay Anderson P5 – to celebrate her award and say thank you for all she does for the school and wider community, frequently going beyond the call of duty.
