WITH people having to spend more time indoors, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) says it wants to keep everyone safe.

A spokesman said: "You may be working from home, or home schooling children, and many of us will have additional caring responsibilities to carry out.

"All this extra home-based activity creates a greater need for vigilance, particularly with regard to kitchens and electrical safety.

"Be careful not to leave cooking unattended, and ensure you don't overload electrical sockets or charge mobile phones or tablets and laptops overnight."

He went on to say that the fire service is not carrying out home fire safety visits at present but advice can be given over the phone.

Contact SFRS via the Freephone number 0800 0731 999 or via the website.

Further advice on home fire safety is available from the SFRS website under the Your Safety tab https://www.firescotland.gov.uk/
