PEDESTRIANS have been railed off from a pavement in Wick town centre amid fears that masonry could fall on them.

Locals have been asked to use the pavement on the opposite side of the road from the town hall in Bridge Street after loose stonework was found on the tower.

Alex Macmanus, of the Highland Council’s Caithness ward manager’s team, said that a work order has gone out to try and get the repairs done as soon as possible.

In the meantime the public are being asked to pay heed to the railings and warning signs and use the opposite pavement to avoid any incidents.
