Alness-based Northern Recycling Solutions is sold to Hamilton Waste & Recycling after almost 20 years running as family business
A Highland recycling business has now been sold after almost two decades operating as a family business, it has been announced.
Alness-based Northern Recycling Solutions has been sold to Hamilton Waste & Recycling — who are part of the Biffa Group — according to a LinkedIn post published by the company’s owner, Ewan Calder.
According to Mr Calder, it is expected that the new owners will retain the current team in full, with no changes to contacts for local customers.
He said: “It has been an honour to serve you, our customers, build lasting relationships, and contribute to the Highland Community. We want to express our deepest gratitude to all our loyal customers who have supported us throughout this journey.
“A special thank you to our amazing team – past and present – whose hard work, passion, and commitment have been the backbone of our success. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without you.”
Northern Recycling Solutions was established in 2008, collecting and sorting waste from businesses around the Highlands. Run by brother and sister, Ewan Calder and Katherine Mount, the company had established its Resource Recovery Centre only two years ago.
“This move offers many benefits, including security of disposal routes, wider reach for waste services and financial stability for further growth and investment.
“Thank you for being part of our story. Katie and I will stay on and will be making contact with individual customers in due course, we are excited and proud to continue growing Northern Recycling Solutions as we embark on our next chapter.”
