Another summer spruce-up is being planned for Wick ahead of the town’s annual gala week.

This is the third year that the Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council (RBWCC) has organised the event.

It will take place on Wednesday, July 24, with volunteers meeting at the car park opposite the Norseman Hotel at 6.30pm.

Last year 45 public-spirited people joined forces to carry out a range of tidy-up tasks around the riverside and town centre.

Supporting the community council will be members of Wick Paths Group and Wick Flowers (formerly known as Wick Flower Baskets).

Organiser Allan Bruce, the RBWCC vice-chairman, said: “We’ve had a great turnout the last two years – despite the wet conditions – and it would be great to see members of the public coming along to help. There will be a range of jobs to do and there will be tasks suitable for all abilities.

“During gala week there are usually many people who visit Wick and this is a great chance to make sure the town centre is looking at its best.”

Wick Gala Week takes place from July 27 to August 3.
