A PUBLIC meeting is to be staged in Wick as part of the consultation into the proposed transmission subsea link to Shetland.
Feedback on the scheme will be shared at the SSEN Transmission event on October 10 in Wick's Assembly Rooms. A similar meeting is to be held in Lerwick.
The proposed cable between Weisdale Voe in Shetland and Noss Head would be approximately 260km long, including 250km of subsea cable. These events will allow SSEN Transmission to present its responses to comments received throughout the consultation, prior to submitting an application for a marine licence to Marine Scotland and an application for a marine works licence to Shetland Islands Council.
The feedback meetings follow two consultation events held in July at which interested parties met with the project team and provided comments on the installation of the subsea section of the HVDC transmission link.
As a responsible developer we want to keep the local community and stakeholders updated on our proposals at every stage of the project development.
Kelly Scott, SSEN Transmission’s community liaison manager, said: "We would like to thank everyone who provided their feedback during our public consultation, these comments have played a key role in the development of the project.
“As a responsible developer we want to keep the local community and stakeholders updated on our proposals at every stage of the project development.
“At these events we will be sharing our responses to feedback received during our consultation and how they have informed the development of the subsea cable route and its installation method. I’d encourage anyone who is interested to come along to our feedback events and meet the project team.”
The Wick event will run from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.
