LOCAL woman Sheila Cormack whose connection with Dunnet Church has spanned over 50 years, has been presented with a long service certificate by Prince Charles.

Announcing the presentation during the service on Sunday, the Rev Lyall Rennie said: "There is a lady in our congregation who was ordained as an elder here in Dunnet Church over 30 years ago. She has also been a member of the guild for approximately 45 years and during that time she has served as both secretary and president several times as well as on Caithness Presbyterial Council.

"She was the first lady convener on presbytery’s home mission committee as well as serving on the business committee. She also had the honour of serving as the moderator of Caithness Presbytery for the 2017/18 session. I am, of course, talking about Sheila Cormack."

Mrs Cormack, who works locally as a respite carer, has been married to farmer and sheepdog handler Will Cormack of Wester, Dunnet, for more than 50 years and says she has been going to Dunnet Church for that amount of time.

She said: "Dunnet Church plays a very big part in my life. I also enjoy going to sheepdog trials with Will, my work as a respite carer and spending time with my granddaughters."
