Positive tests for Covid reach 159 in Caithness in latest seven-day period

There were 159 positive tests for Covid-19 in Caithness during the latest seven-day period recorded by Public Health Scotland.

Of the three neighbourhoods across the Highland Council area with the highest seven-day rates per 100,000 population, two were in Wick.

Wick North had 37 positive cases and Wick South had 36, based on people tested between October 30 and November 5. Wick North's seven-day rate per 100,000 population was 1149.1 and the rate for Wick South was 1051.7, compared with a figure of 389.1 for the region as a whole.

Public Health Scotland's interactive dashboard has a map giving the number of positive cases in individual neighbourhoods, seven of which are in Caithness. It shows that in the most recent seven-day spell there were also 29 positive cases in Caithness North West, 21 in Thurso East, 20 in Thurso West, 12 in Caithness North East and four in Caithness South.

There were 21 cases in the Sutherland South neighbourhood, 16 in Sutherland East and 11 in Sutherland North and West.

Public Health Scotland reported 916 positive cases across the Highland local authority area during the seven-day period.
