Posing riverside robin makes a pretty picture

It may be a bit late in the day but this little robin posed for the perfect Christmas card scene while flitting around Wick riverside yesterday afternoon.

The image was captured beside a bench along the riverside walk as the little bird darted about before taking a rest on a fence post.

When posted on social media it became obvious that the cute bird was well known to some of the local people who exercise along the path.

Retired teacher Eswyl Fell said: "The robin is almost always there and hops along the posts when you speak to it."

The little bird expectantly looks down at a nearby bench. Turns out the plucky robin has been used to getting a tasty titbit from local people taking a rest there.

She added that a few others have seen the same bird at that location and one of her friends even feeds it dried mealworms from time to time.

The plucky robin was no doubt hanging around the bench hoping to bag some grub – or dried grubs as the case may be.
