Police scotch rumours related to weekend incident on Wick street and give the facts

Police said they are aware of inaccurate information circulating on social media related to an incident in Wick in the small hours on Sunday morning.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.30am on Sunday, 14 August, 2022, police received a report of a disturbance in the Bridge Street area of Wick. One man attended hospital for assessment and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
Social media rumours had suggested that an "elderly man was attacked by a group of men" but police enquiries have made it clear that this is not accurate.
