SEVERAL police vehicles were observed in Wick attending the scene of an incident at a property in Dunnett Avenue yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

According to an eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous, three police vehicles were seen outside the house for a number of hours after officers had "gained entry by smashing through a window" at the front of the property.

Last night, the curtains at the house were all drawn and a wooden panel had been fixed on the front door to cover the apparent point of entry.

A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland was made aware of concern for a person within a property on Dunnett Avenue in Wick around 2.20pm on Thursday, 16 April.

"Officers attended and a man was subsequently taken to Caithness General Hospital for treatment."
