"We wish to remind road users to drive in accordance with the speed limits and weather conditions, on this occasion we had another beautiful day in Caithness and the road users in the areas that were being checked were adhering to the speed limits. These speed checks will be a regular part of our commitment to keeping the communities of Caithness safe."

Comments from Facebook users flooded in with one Wick resident highlighting Henrietta Street as being like "a racing track from the top to bottom" and others saying that Willowbank and Hill Avenue were problem areas for speeding motorists.

Another said that Lybster needs checks as it's "a 40 limit" and "they come through doing 60 or 70 [and] even lorries speed". Other areas mentioned included the stretch from Janetstown to Reay along with the roads through Westfield and Dunnet.
