Police confirm death of man following Wick disturbance

THE man injured during a disturbance in a house in Wick at the weekend has died, the police have confirmed.

The 50-year-old was taken to the town's Caithness General Hospital following an incident at a property in Barrogill Street on Saturday night.

He was later transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where he died on Tuesday night.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "About 9.30pm on Saturday, June 13, emergency services were called to a property on Barrogill Street, Wick, following a disturbance.

"A 50-year-old man was taken to Caithness General Hospital and was subsequently transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where he died during the evening of Tuesday, June 16. His death is being treated as unexplained, pending the outcome of a post-mortem examination.

"A 61-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident."

A section of Barrogill Street was cordoned off while police officers carried out their investigation. Members of a forensic team were observed entering a building on Sunday evening around 8.30pm.
