Police appeal as motorcyclist treated for life-threatening injuries after crash on A836 near Castletown

Police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash near Castletown on Tuesday.

The crash, involving a BMW R1100 motorcycle and a Skoda Karoq, happened at around 3.15pm on the A836 at Quarryside, Castletown.

The 39-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Caithness General Hospital and later transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with what are described as life-threatening injuries.

The driver and passengers of the car were not injured.

The road was closed for around eight hours for crash investigation and recovery of the vehicles.

Sergeant Ewan Calder, of North Road Policing, said: “At this time, we are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

“We would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage that may help with our enquiries to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2072 of June 14.
