Thrumster Primary School pupils got out in the sunshine to take part in a tree-planting session following a tie-up with Yarrows Heritage Trust.
The P1-7 youngsters dug deep in the area around the village's restored railway station and will be able to monitor the growth of the trees in years to come.
Principal teacher Lynsey Bremner explained: "The trust had bought trees for our pupils to plant prior to Covid and very kindly looked after them for us over the past two years. We were finally able to get down to the Thrumster station garden on Wednesday to plant these.
"Each child picked a number which corresponded to a tree and this will be their very own tree going forward, for them to see grow over the years.
"The trust is always very supportive of the school and previously our children have been very fortunate to work alongside them taking part in the Swartigill archaeology dig, field walking and other local environmental experiences."
