Panel finds against GP
A GP, who is a former Wick High dux, has been found to have pursued and engaged in an emotional and sexual relationship with a vulnerable patient.
Dr Gordon Carter, who has worked as a GP at the Bydand Medical Group in Huntly for 24 years, faces being struck off after five charges were proved against him at a tribunal hearing this week.
Dr Carter, who attended Wick High School between 1975 and 1981, attended a hearing of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) in Manchester this week.
He denied pursing a sexual relationship with the patient, who has a history of mental health problems, between January and August last year.
The panel found there was enough evidence that he and the patient believed they had a genuine and lasting relationship.
It will now rule on whether Dr Carter’s fitness to practise is impaired.
