Killer whales were spotted in Wick Bay and at different locations along the local coast line as they made their way north earlier today.

Chris Ewing, who was out walking the dogs at the time, was able to get a few photographs of the orcas as they headed along by Broadhaven, Wick, around 11.15am. There were believed to be three of them, one adult and two calves

A number of local orca followers managed to track the killer whales as they made their way north, spotting them at Freswick and again at Duncansby Head around 2pm and managed to get a few photographs. They thought they might possibly be heading towards the Skerries and then on to Orkney.

It is later in the year than usual for spotting orcas along the local coastline.
