NHS Highland region registers one new positive test for Covid-19 coronavirus in past day

ONE new Covid-19 infection was detected across the NHS Highland region in the past 24 hours, the latest Scottish Government update has revealed.
The health board area’s cumulative number of cases since the start of the pandemic now stands at 5051.
A total of 221 new positive tests for Covid-19 were recorded across Scotland in the past day. This was the equivalent of 1.6 per cent of all tests conducted during that 24 hour period.
Some 133 people were receiving treatment for the virus in Scottish hospitals last night – down 19 from Monday’s update.
Of those, 20 were in intensive care – a fall of one.
Sadly, three more people who tested positive in the past 28 days have subsequently died.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no newly-confirmed infections overnight in NHS Shetland, NHS Orkney or NHS Eileanan Siar.
Seventeen fresh positive tests were detected across NHS Grampian, for a running total of 14,666.
And NHS Tayside’s overall tally rose by seven, to 14,461.
There have been 222,382 known cases of the virus in Scotland since the pandemic started last year.
Almost 2.683 million people have now had their first Covid vaccination jag, while more than 605,000 have had their second dose.
