North Coast Fiddlers gearing up for north Highland mini-tour

A group of young local fiddle players are to host three shows during a mini-tour of Caithness, Sutherland and Ross-shire during September.

The North Coast Fiddlers – comprising Andrea Cormack, Beth Cormack, Aiva Harper and Emily Morrison – will perform in the Wick RBLS Pipe Band Hall on September 20, at the National Hotel in Dingwall on the 21st and in the Bridge Hotel, Helmsdale, on the 22nd.

The shows will start at 8pm and are due to finish at 10pm. At the Wick show the fiddlers will be supported by Na Caileagan, another group of talented young female musicians from Caithness.

A percentage of takings at this show will go to the Town and County Hospital in Wick. This is in respect of the care and attention recently shown by the staff to the granny of two members of the group, Andrea and Beth.

The North Coast Fiddlers’ first public performance was in the Wick Pipe Band Hall in March 2018. Since then they have played at a variety of venues and events.

In addition to playing traditional Scottish music they include other music genres such as folk, country and pop music. The group also appeared before Prince Charles at the Castle of Mey in August last year when they played a tune they had jointly written for him and presented him with a recording of it.

Tickets for any of the venues can be booked by emailing tickets@northcoastfiddlers.com or by calling Tracey on 01955 603603. Tickets for the Wick Pipe Band Hall date can also be bought in Morag’s Café in High Street, Wick.
