TRAIN services across the Highlands have been cancelled today due to a day of strike action undertaken by members of train operating companies across the UK.

The protest, resulting from a pay dispute with Network Rail, will affect ScotRail services with no trains running today (July 27) and disruption expected tomorrow.

This will be caused by the closing and reopening of signal boxes at different times across the country.

Only five routes across the Central Belt will be in operation.

Further strike action is expected to take place 18 and 20 August.

Passengers are advised to check their journeys on ScotRail's Journey Planner or their app.
