Only two new positive tests for Covid-19 were recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours.

The figure was revealed in the Scottish Government's daily update at 2pm.

There have now been 18,302 positive tests across Scotland since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Of those, 2489 are reported to have died – after a further fatality was recorded in the past day.

NHS Highland once again reported no freshly confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the past day. Its overall number of cases remained at 376.

The wider north of Scotland once again also recorded no new positive tests for the virus. NHS Grampian (1426 cases), Shetland (54), Orkney (nine) and the Western Isles (seven) all saw their overall number of diagnoses remain static for another day.

Nationally, the number of people being treated in hospital with confirmed Covid-19 fell from 384 to 376 last night. Three of those Scottish cases were in intensive care.
