No new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the NHS Highland area in the past 24 hours.

The number of positive tests in the health board region since the pandemic began remained at 338 on Tuesday.

The number of people receiving treatment in hospital, having tested positive for the virus, rose by one to 10.

The news came as the number of positive tests reported across Scotland as a whole increased by 53 to 15,471 – although 40 of those 53 cases were "historical" tests.

A further 12 people who tested positive in Scotland have subsequently died, taking that tally to 2375.

The number of people being treated for Covid-19 in Scottish hospitals continued recent falls, with just 712 people who had tested positive receiving treatment last night. This was down from 735 the previous day. Twenty of the 712 were in intensive care.

There were no fresh positive tests for Covid-19 in the Shetland, Orkney or Western Isles health board areas.

NHS Grampian reported three new positive tests to take its confirmed total to 1281, although the numbers of those requiring hospital treatment fell by five to 64.
